| White decided to leave Iowa State after playing just one season in which he was named the Big 12's Newcomer of the Year after leading the Cyclones with 13.4 points and 9.3 rebounds. Iowa State reached the NCAA tournament for the first time in seven years and White was at his best in March against the stiffest of competition, scoring 23 points with nine rebounds in an 87-71 third-round loss to eventual national champion Kentucky. He was the only player in the country to lead his team in points, rebounds, steals, assists and blocks. A Minneapolis native, White began his career at Minnesota in 2009, but transferred to Iowa State without playing a game for the Gophers after being arrested for shoplifting and a scuffle at the Mall of America, pleading guilty to a disorderly conduct charge. Not long after, he also pleaded guilty to trespassing in connection with the theft of a laptop on Minnesota's campus. On the court, he is strong and physical, and was also at times the Cyclones' best ball-handler. He is a rare big man who can take his defender off the dribble and attack the basket. However, White was terrible from the foul line, shooting just 49.8 percent, and he has an ongoing battle with anxiety problems that give him issues getting on airplanes. He is expected to be selected late in the first round by a team willing to work with him off the court with the hopes of reaping the rewards of his versatility on the hardwood. |
