Lakers insist no deal reached with Scott

LOS ANGELES (AP) The Los Angeles Lakers have waited nearly three months to hire a new coach, and they're apparently making Byron Scott wait a few more days.

Scott said this weekend that he has been hired by the Lakers, but the club insisted Sunday that no deal has been reached.

Scott, who won three NBA titles as a shooting guard for the Lakers, told KCBS-TV he will take over the club, which hasn't had a coach since Mike D'Antoni resigned April 30.

James to go back to No. 23 with Cavs

(AP) -- LeBron James will go back to wearing jersey No. 23 in his return to Cleveland.

James tweeted "23 it is! It's only right I go back. 23(equals)6 We still family 6." The tweet included an Instagram post with photos of James holding his No. 23 Cavaliers jersey on draft night, him later in a new version of the Cavs' jersey and a one of him in his high school jersey.

Final arguments begin in Sterling trial

LOS ANGELES (AP) Only final arguments and a ruling remain in the trial to determine whether Donald Sterling's estranged wife can sell the Los Angeles Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for $2 billion.

Lawyers for Sterling plan to argue Monday that Shelly Sterling had no right to make the deal with Ballmer, even though Donald Sterling had given her written authority to pursue a sale.

Love leaves US team with future unsure

(AP) -- Kevin Love still doesn't know where he will play next season, his NBA future hanging in the air while a seldom-used league rule complicates a potential trade to Cleveland.

The only thing certain from a basketball standpoint for Love is that he won't be playing for Team USA this summer.

Wizards' Wall added to US World Cup list

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) Washington Wizards guard John Wall has been added to the U.S. player pool for this summer's World Cup of Basketball.

The 19 players on the list will be trimmed to 12 for the tournament in Spain in late August.

Cavs sign Wiggins, no deal for 30 days

CLEVELAND (AP) Andrew Wiggins has an NBA home. Maybe a temporary one.

The Cavaliers signed the No. 1 overall draft pick Thursday, a deal that prevents Wiggins from being traded for 30 days.

Bulls chairman Reinsdorf hospitalized

CHICAGO (AP) The Chicago White Sox say owner Jerry Reinsdorf has been hospitalized after feeling lightheaded in Cooperstown, New York.

The team says all tests Friday night indicate he is fine. The 78-year-old Reinsdorf, also chairman of the NBA's Chicago Bulls, is coherent and resting comfortably, according to the club.

Pelicans' Davis anxious to start US camp

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Getting enough rest during the NBA offseason is the least of Anthony Davis' concerns. He's just 21.

Coming off his first All-Star campaign with the New Orleans Pelicans in only his second NBA season, Davis is now looking forward to starting Team USA training camp in Las Vegas on Monday and the likelihood of joining the club for the FIBA World Cup in Madrid in August.

Lakers re-sign Henry to 1-year deal

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) Xavier Henry has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers announced the deal Friday.
