Down at half, US pulls away from Turkey

BILBAO, Spain (AP) They figured it would be simple, that they would just beat up on Turkey like they did Finland a night earlier.

Instead, the Americans were the ones on the ropes for nearly three quarters.

"I guess we felt like last night's game was pretty easy and tonight was going to be the same way, but Turkey came out and they gave us their punch from the beginning," forward James Harden said. "We took it and we were sluggish. That second half we played a lot better."

Rockets to acquire G Terry from Kings

HOUSTON (AP) A person with knowledge of the deal says the Houston Rockets will acquire guard Jason Terry in a trade with Sacramento.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been completed.

Grizzlies waive G Franklin

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) The Memphis Grizzlies have waived guard Jamaal Franklin.

Franklin, 23, averaged 1.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 7.7 minutes in 21 games for the Grizzlies as a rookie last season. The Grizzlies selected the 6-foot-5 guard from San Diego State in the second round with the 41st overall pick in the 2013 draft.

Sterling wife: Ballmer eager to own team

LOS ANGELES (AP) When asked how much money she wanted to sell the Los Angeles Clippers, the wife of disgraced team owner Donald Sterling handed a piece of paper to her lawyer with two numbers: $1.5 to $2.

What wasn't written was understood - she meant billions, shocking figures for a franchise that until recently was a perpetual loser. But Shelly Sterling soon brokered a deal to part with the team for a record $2 billion, selling it to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, a buyer whose name she did not know at first.

Clippers waive G-F Delfino, C Raduljica

LOS ANGELES (AP) The Clippers waived guard-forward Carlos Delfino and center Miroslav Raduljica three days after they were acquired.

The team made the move on Friday after having traded forward Jared Dudley and a protected 2017 first-round draft pick to Milwaukee for Delfino and Raduljica.

Inmate charged in Heat player scam

MIAMI (AP) A man already in prison on a real estate fraud conviction has been charged in Florida with a multi-million-dollar investment scam involving three former Miami Heat players and the team itself.

A grand jury indictment released Friday charges that Haider Zafar ripped off players Mike Miller, James Jones and Rashard Lewis in 2013 by promising to invest their money in various business opportunities. Instead, prosecutors say Zafar kept the money and used some of it to buy a $1 million, three-season Heat ticket package.

Celtics' Green donates $1M to Georgetown

WASHINGTON (AP) Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green is donating $1 million to Georgetown's new athletic center.

The university announced the gift from the former Hoyas star on Thursday, Green's 28th birthday. He helped lead Georgetown to the Final Four in 2007 and was the No. 5 overall pick in the NBA draft that year.

Clippers give Rivers 5-year extension

LOS ANGELES (AP) Doc Rivers is staying with the Los Angeles Clippers for another five years.

In Steve Ballmer's first big move since taking over as the new owner, he gave Rivers a contract extension through the 2018-19 season.

Veteran G Brown signs with Heat

MIAMI (AP) Shannon Brown signed Wednesday with the Miami Heat, the ninth team the veteran guard has been part of in his career.

Brown appeared in 29 games last season with New York and San Antonio. He has appeared in 403 games for seven different clubs, and was briefly with Washington last season though never appeared in a game.
