Fox Sports to televise Battle on the Midway
SAN DIEGO (AP) The inaugural Battle on the Midway basketball game between Syracuse and San Diego State on Nov. 9 will be televised by Fox Sports, with Dick Enberg doing play-by-play.
Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. PST on the deck of the Midway aircraft carrier museum. Enberg currently does TV play-by-play for the San Diego Padres on Fox Sports San Diego.
Syracuse earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament before losing to Ohio State in the East Regional final, finishing 34-3. SDSU made its third straight NCAA tournament appearance and finished 26-8.
The schools have met only once before, with Syracuse beating SDSU in the second round of the 2007 postseason NIT.
The Battle on the Midway will be part of a Veterans Day weekend celebration. On Nov. 11, Barry Zito of the San Francisco Giants will host a gala and concert on the ship for his foundation, Strikeouts for Troops.
